Self-absorbed people possessing a callous nature do not value the feelings or needs of others. Their focus lies on their own wishes over all else, displaying a complete lack of empathy. Such selfish people are do not understand the importance of selflessness and selfless acts towards their fellow beings.
The only concern lies on fulfilling their own desires, mistakenly realizing the hurt they inflict upon others. In essence, selfish people are perpetuate a society lacking empathy and compassion.
